So, as I start this puppy back up, I might as well comment on two issues I have been mulling over on this most memorable of days, Pearl Harbor Day. Today is the such and such anniversary of when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor which officially brought the US into WWII, blah, blah, blah. Also, Lincoln, a new movie, is out in theatres and I have yet to see it. I will rent it when it comes out.
The question that arises is, why do we aggrandize those presidents that kill so many people in war. We should remember today as a horrible day in history and remind ourselves the damage that out of control governments can cause.
I don't remember who said it but I love it, "War is the failure of politics." We hire these a-holes to keep us OUT of war I thought, yet we hold up every president that got us into war as some kind of hero, no matter how many people had to die. Now I don't know my history, and believe no one actually knows the truth, but what actions did FDR and Lincoln do BEFORE the wars that may or may not have precipitated war. Why did every other country free the slaves without civil war, why did Japan bomb us, we weren't doing anything, were we? Thank you public education system for not filling in those questions. Anyway, I love the fact that the history is out there and I can find it when I am ready.
ALSO, ISSUE NUMBER TWO: I am loving the recent legalization of pot by two bluish states Washington and Colorado. Oh, what, oh, what will the Obama administration do now. Here are two states telling the Feds to mind it's own business and actually trying to nullify federal law. Can Obama just say, "Go ahead, enjoy?" Well, he could, but then my state, Idaho may say, "Wait a sec, dude, we are going to nullify Obamacare then and, unless you want to act like a dictator, you can't say anything." We shall sit back, eat some buttered popcorn and watch the greatest show on earth.

This is the proverbial FUCK IT! post. I have literally not posted because I was scared. Do you believe that? Scared of what? Scared of what people will think about me, say about me, etc etc. Well, forget it. Not scared anymore. What does it accomplish, being scared? Nothing. Oops. It does accomplish one thing. I have dreams and hopes and pleasures, and I want them to come to fruition, but I was and still am scared. Well, I am on my way to accomplishing those dreams, hopes and pleasures.
This blog is a place for me to share my thoughts and practice writing. I will also be promoting my upcoming sites, www.farmerevolution.com and www.uncommonlearning.com.
How did I get here. I was helped by many folks but none greater than www.jamesaltucher.com. Absolutely a hoot to read. I also delved into his reading list and began reading some of his recommended books.
Lets get going and see what happens.
p.s. I will try not to cuss very much on this site because I believe there are better ways to express oneself, but, sometimes, it is just needed.

Outrageous
In a free country this should NEVER happen. I know, we aren't free, this is just one more example. Please at least read the bold part.

The Daily Show has always been the greatest at exposing hypocrisy.
I just wish they had done it more BEFORE the election, when Obama followed Bush on TARP and the FISA bill which gave RETROACTIVE immunity to corporations, or.....

Mary
The trailer below looks interesting. This is an issue that I would think would be cut and dry, satisfying both liberals and conservatives. We could SHRINK government AND have healthier food and environment. Unfortunately, I believe both sides are too blind to see it this way and most the politicians are too weak to stand up to corporations.
It also features a great man, Joel Salatin from Polyface Farm. If you have a chance to see Salatin speak, I highly recommend him. Even if you don't agree with him, you will definitely be entertained.

Ok, so, if you believe this chart... which, along with everything you find on the internet is always suspect and Cato is a libertarian think tank so they have something to prove. My intuition, though, after a huge increase with Bush's "No Child Left Behind," and my local taxes for education have continued up, says that the increase is in the ball park.
Plain and simple....More money does NOT equate to more intelligent people. We need to overhaul the system and cut their spending. They have been given their chance. As the Seinfeld soup nazi would say, NEXT!
